Saw the movie Limitless yesterday - good flick I thought (matinee at $8).
The strange part was that it was dubbed in English Subtitles (yes the movie was in English). Do that many deaf people go to a movie on a Saturday afternoon that they need to provide cc for them?? Was hard to ignore sometimes - would always be ahead of the dialog, so if you wanted to know what was about to happen, you just read it - was a spoiler for some parts for sure.
Watching the movie - music is in the background - so the subtitle is a musical note - not sure what that represents to the deaf - then you read - car crash sounds - and 1 second later you would see the car crash (very strange - why would they know what a 'car crash sound' would sound like?) Worst was when two people would be talking and the cc would spell out what they said before they said it.
Anyways just a warning for those that are told at the ticket counter that it will have cc for the deaf - next time I'll go to a different flick without the English CC.
I'm off to Boise ID today - would really like to see the sun for once - and not working weekends would be nice.
Sounds like something Mom and I would find useful.
